Beer barrel on the steepest railway in the world

The Swiss mountain village of Stoos can be reached from Sunday via the steepest railway in the world.

Yet passengers do not have to worry about falling out of their seats. The train has cylindrical coupés that look like large beer kegs and that rotate, so that the travelers always stay upright. That is what Swiss media report.

The railway between Schwyz and Stoos, south of Zurich, cost 44.6 million euros and is a sample of Swiss technology. The train goes up 10 meters per second over the 1720 meter long track and bridges a height difference of 743 meters (see photo below).
