Six Political Parties in Suriname Sign Coalition Agreement

Six political parties in Suriname have officially signed a coalition agreement on Sunday evening, laying the groundwork for the new government led by Jennifer Geerlings-Simons.

Election Results

Although the official election results from May 25th are not yet announced, it is widely believed that the NDP is expected to secure 18 out of the 51 seats, while the Progressive Reform Party (VHP) led by President Chan Santokhi is projected to maintain 17 seats.

The six coalition parties are set to have a total of 34 seats, enough to elect a president and vice president. The coalition agreement solidifies policy agreements and the distribution of ministerial and other key positions.
