Mount Etna Erupts Again with Lava and Ash
Mount Etna, located on the Italian island of Sicily, has resumed its volcanic activity by spewing lava and ash since Monday morning. The Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported a pyroclastic flow, a fiery avalanche of ash, gas, and rocks caused by a collapse on the volcano's southeast crater's north side.
Increased Explosive Activity and Tremors
INGV noted an intensification in explosive activity, including a lava fountain eruptive phase and increased ground tremors. The first ground deformations in the crater area have also been recorded. Tourists were seen fleeing the vicinity of the volcano in video footage.
