warsaw, poland - Karol Nawrocki, a nationalist and eurosceptic, emerges victorious in the Polish presidential elections with 50.89% of the votes against pro-European candidate Rafal Trzaskowski.

Eurosceptic Ex-Boxer Nawrocki Triumphs in Polish Presidential Race

Historian and former boxer, Karol Nawrocki, representing the nationalist party Law and Justice (PiS), secured a victory in the Polish presidential elections with 50.89% of the votes. His opponent, pro-European Rafal Trzaskowski, garnered 49.11% of the votes.

Political Platforms

Nawrocki campaigned for policies such as immigration halt, aligning with his eurosceptic stance, while Trzaskowski, the current mayor of Warsaw, ran on a pro-European platform promising to support the government in its democratic reforms.

The Polish parliament holds significant power, though the president retains the authority to veto legislation.
