At least 31 dead after collapsing bridge Genoa

The death toll after the collapse of a traffic bridge in the Italian port city of Genoa has increased to 31.

The death toll probably rises further. Fifteen people were injured, nine of whom are in serious condition, and at least ten are still missing. A source at the fire brigade already speaks of at least 35 deaths. At the moment the bridge collapsed, an estimated 35 vehicles were on the bridge.

The suspension bridge of the A10 collapsed on Tuesday during heavy weather and left a havoc. Not only motorists were compromised; there were also fragments on houses in a densely populated neighborhood. The rescue work was continued at night, hoping to get alive under the rubble.
