Le Pen wants name change Front National

The Front National must change name to be able to join other parties.

Le Pen announced in September last year that it wants to change the name. A survey was conducted among party members. Earlier this week, news channel RTL reported that the majority of respondents would be against a change of name, but that was what Le Pen called 'fake news' on Sunday.

The name Front National could, according to the party leader, evoke fear or have too much emotional charge. She expects the party with a new name to be seen more as a potential government party. Le Pen lost last year the presidential election of Emmanuel Macron.

At the upcoming party congress in March, a number of names will be proposed, on which members can then vote.
