You probably did not think that this man was British

The oldest British skeleton ever found, the Cheddar Man, is not of a white islander, but had a very dark skin color.

Researchers at University College London and the National History Museum claim that this 'hunter and collector' had a dark to black skin color, blue eyes and curly hair. The researchers think that the white skin pigment that dominates in Northern Europe is a much younger phenomenon than was first assumed. Today, about 10 percent of the native inhabitants of the British Isles would be related to the Cheddar Man.
