US threaten Assad with new attack

The United States is prepared to take military action again to punish the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

According to the sources, Washington has information that the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad may again use prohibited weapons in the battle for Idlib. That province is regarded as the last noteworthy stronghold of insurgents and jihadists who fight against Assad. There are an estimated tens of thousands of fighters.

The US has already carried out bombings to punish the use of chemical weapons. Earlier this year, France and Great Britain also joined such an attack on targets of the Syrian government. Sources say that a larger attack will follow the US think Assad has used chemical weapons again.

Russia, an ally of the Syrian government, states that insurgents will try to provoke such a Western attack. According to news agency Sputnik, a spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense says that militants in Idlib are preparing to stage an attack with chemical weapons by government troops.
