UN boss demands end of violence in Syrian Daraa

Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres demands a direct end to military action in the Daraa region in south-western Syria.

'Thanks to the offensive, thousands of people have fled,' the spokesman said. Most people seem to flee to nearby Jordan according to the spokesman. 'This can endanger regional security. '

The army of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has begun an offensive in the southwest last week to reclaim parts of the country from rebels. Islamic State also has another area in the region. The Syrian army has bombed several places in the region and has started a ground offensive.
