New design for Google News

Google News has got a new design.

At the top of the page is a new navigation bar with 'headlines from the news', 'local' and 'for you' tabs. When signing in, people can customize the tabs locally and for you.

In 'local', people can track stories about every part of the world in which they are interested, such as their place of residence. In 'for you', people can create their own mini-feed, for example, follow their favorite team or news about new gadgets.

Different insights

Special story cards should help people get different insights for a good understanding of a particular topic. A first view provides a brief overview of a story, after which people can dive deeper and read articles with different views that are regularly labeled as local source, opinion or factcheck. There is also a solid fact check box on the right side of the 'main points of the news' tab.

In addition, the top video algorithm has been improved, the top video is highlighted in the story card and a better player has been built. When a video is playing, more related videos will be available in the player.
