Goal 4 nuclear reactor restarted

The nuclear reactor Doel 4 in Belgium Friday started again.

The reactor was shut Tuesday. Cause was a 'irregularity' in the connection between the central and the high-voltage, causing escaping steam. An employee of a subcontractor who was working at that time in the machine room thereby injured.

Supervisor FANC (Federal Agency for Nuclear Control) classed the incident at level 0 on the INES scale of nuclear incidents. Events at level 0 usually have little interest in the field of nuclear safety, the FANC sets. The incident in Goal 4 ' therefore had no impact on the welfare of the other workers, the public or the environment. '

Belgium has seven nuclear reactors, four in Doel and three in Wallonia Tihange. Arranged one falls silent by an unexpected malfunction. The problems raise questions in the neighboring countries about the safety of these plants.
