Glacier in Switzerland breaks down

In Switzerland sunday a huge piece of ice from a glacier broke down.

From precaution, more than two hundred people had left their homes. How much ice has been broken from the famous Triftgletsjer is not yet clear. The first estimates are 200,000 cubic meters of ice. The glaciers have been moving for weeks.

The Triftgletsjer is 3300 meters high and has been smaller since 1985. By 2015 the glacier was shorter for 2 kilometers. According to geologists of ETH Zurich, there is a direct connection between global warming and the breaking glaciers.
