Iranian Film 'It Was Just an Accident' Wins Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival

The Iranian film 'It Was Just an Accident' directed by Panahi has defied Iranian authorities by winning the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Panahi, a known critic of the Iranian government, filmed the movie without permission.

Other Winners at Cannes

The Grand Prix was awarded to Joachim Trier for 'Sentimental Value', while the Jury Prize went to 'Sirat' and 'Sound of Falling'. Wagner Moura won the best actor award for 'The Secret Agent', with other nominees including Josh O'Connor, Joaquin Phoenix, and Benicio del Toro.

French actress Nadia Melliti won the best actress award for her role in 'The Last One', a film about a 17-year-old Islamic girl in Paris exploring her identity, faith, and sexuality. The Camera d’Or for best debut film went to Hasan Hadi for 'The President’s Cake'.
