new delhi - A container ship carrying hazardous cargo has sunk off the coast of Kerala, India, with all 24 crew members rescued. The vessel, MSC ELSA 3, went down with 640 containers onboard.

Container Ship Sinks off Kerala Coast

A container ship, MSC ELSA 3, sank near the Indian state of Kerala with 640 containers, including 13 carrying hazardous materials. The vessel sent a distress signal on Saturday, prompting a rescue operation by the Indian Navy.

Rescue Operation and Details

All 24 crew members were successfully rescued after the 184-meter-long ship encountered trouble during its voyage from Vizhinjam to Kochi. The crew consisted of individuals from Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, and the Philippines. The Indian Ministry of Defense confirmed the absence of an oil leak despite a significant amount of fuel onboard.
