Pope talks with army leader Myanmar

Pope Francis has met with the Myanmar army leader Min Aung Hlaing.

'They talked about the great responsibility that the authorities in the country have in this transitional period,' said a Vatican spokesperson.

The visit of Francis to Myanmar seems peaceful. The riot police were in Yangon with many troops, but as far as is known, they did not have to act. More than 150,000 people have signed up for a Mass that the Pope commits on Wednesday in the city.

The church prince later traveled to neighboring Bangladesh. There, many hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims have fled from Myanmar. This subject is so sensitive in Myanmar that some advisors had urged the pope not to take the word 'Rohingya' during his visit.
