Again dismissal after disaster with submarine

Argentinian admiral Marcelo Srur has been fired because of the disaster with the submarine ARA San Juan.

Srur (60) was the commander-in-chief of the Argentine navy.

The navy of the South American land searched intensively for the San Juan with foreign vessels, but failed to trace the boat or its remains. The submarine disappeared in the southern part of the Atlantic, about 400 kilometers off the Argentine coast.

Minister of Defense Oscar Aguad dismissed the responsible soldier because he heard more and more versions of the weak role that the navy played in the incident. Srur is not the first to be sent out because of the disaster. Last week, two others were fired.
