South Koreans not to test site closure

South Korean journalists are not present this week at the closure of the North Korean nuclear test site.

Media journalists from countries such as the United States, Russia and China boarded the plane to North Korea on Tuesday. They are allowed to attend the decommissioning of Punggye-ri, where the North Koreans conducted nuclear tests.

Pyongyang had initially also invited South Korean journalists. However, the North Koreans did not give in when South Korea wanted to pass on the list of selected reporters, news agency Yonhap said.

The South Korean authorities called it 'disappointing and regrettable' that journalists can not be present at the closure of the test site. Journalists from South Korea, according to Yonhap, had traveled to Beijing in vain, hoping that North Korea would still give permission at the last minute.
