Belgian Justice Seeks 10-Year Sentence for 'Bolle Jos' in Drug Transport Case
Belgian prosecutors have demanded a ten-year jail term for Jos Leijdekkers for his involvement in smuggling around 3400 kilograms of drugs concealed in a shipment of charcoal.
Details of the Case
The drug trafficking operation also involved five other Dutch nationals who faced charges in court. They were accused of transferring the drugs from one container to another, but police intervened following a tip-off from a dockworker.
Leijdekkers, also known as 'Bolle Jos,' was notably absent from the court proceedings in Dendermonde, with authorities suspecting he is evading capture in Sierra Leone. The verdict is expected to be delivered later this summer.
Prior to this case, Leijdekkers had already been sentenced to 24 years in prison in the Netherlands for drug trafficking and ordering a murder. He is also entangled in legal issues in Belgium and remains a wanted fugitive on both the National Wanted List and the EU Most Wanted List, with a reward of 200,000 euros for information leading to his arrest.
