Man rescued from rubble flat after 62 hours

A man lying under the rubble of a collapsed building in India for more than 62 hours has been found alive by rescue workers.

The disaster in the southern state of Karnataka has cost the lives of at least seventeen people, officials say. The five-storey building collapsed on Tuesday. It would have been under construction. Hundreds of rescue workers are active at the disaster site. They have saved more than fifty people so far.

A member of the emergency services told AFP news agency that five people have been arrested so far. This would include the owner of the construction company.
