EPP suspends party Viktor Orbán

The European People's Party (EPP) is immediately suspending Fidesz, the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, partly because of his poster campaign against European Commission President.

Fidesz may not attend any EPP meetings for the time being and therefore has no voting rights. In addition, the party may no longer propose candidates for positions.

Earlier in the day, Orbán's chief of staff announced that Fidesz would immediately leave the EPP if the party was suspended. But the party does not seem to be taking that step.
