hulseberg, germany - A 19-year-old boy got seriously injured after getting his legs stuck in a corn harvester during a harvest festival in Hülseberg, Germany.

A tragic accident occurred before the parade at the harvest festival in the German town of Hülseberg, north of Bremen, on Saturday. A 19-year-old young man was seriously injured when his legs got stuck in a corn harvester in a cornfield. According to Bild, he was urinating at the time.

Preparations for the harvest parade in Hülseberg, a village with 600 inhabitants, were underway when 19-year-old Tom from nearby Hambergen entered a cornfield. Tom and his friends had been working on a float for the parade for two months, as per Bild's reconstruction. Just before the start, they decided to take a quick bathroom break.

At the same time, a farmer was operating a nearly nine-meter wide corn harvester in the field. Due to the height of the corn, he did not see the teenagers in his field. The teens, on the other hand, could not hear the harvester due to the loud music on the floats. While Tom's friends managed to avoid the harvester, Tom himself got his legs trapped in the machine up to his waist.

"It was a quite dramatic situation. The person was stuck with both legs up to his hips in the harvester," said fire department spokesperson Chris Hartmann. "Fortunately, we also had colleagues and specialists who know the machine very well."

It took an hour to free the man from the harvester, and he was airlifted to the hospital. His father and friends stayed by his side throughout. The 19-year-old was not in mortal danger but sustained severe injuries. Medical staff at the hospital where he underwent surgery indicated that he is unlikely to lose his limbs, as reported by Bild.
