London wants to ban plastic straws

Drinking with a plastic straw will soon be a thing of the past in Great Britain.

That reported the BBC. 'Together we can bring about a real change, so that future generations can enjoy a natural environment that is healthier than is currently the case,' said Prime Minister Theresa May about the plan.

London is also seeking a ban on the sale of plastic stirrers. The British industry should develop alternatives for the straws and stirrers that are banned.

According to the British government, 8.5 billion plastic straws are thrown away every year in Great Britain.
