barcelona, atletico madrid, united states - Clément Lenglet has signed a three-year contract with Atlético Madrid after terminating his deal with Barcelona, set to play in the Club World Cup.

Clément Lenglet Completes Permanent Switch to Atlético Madrid

French defender Clément Lenglet has finalized a move to Atlético Madrid after terminating his contract with Barcelona. Lenglet, who spent last season on loan at Atlético, has signed a three-year deal with Diego Simeone's team. He is gearing up to represent Atlético at the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

Details of the Transfer

Lenglet, 29, originally joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 for a fee exceeding €30 million. Despite making over 100 appearances for the Catalan club, Lenglet had recent loan stints at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa before his full transfer to Atlético Madrid last year.

International and Club Participation

The French international, capped 16 times, played a key role in Atlético's last season, prompting the club to secure a permanent deal. Having recently been part of France's Nations League squad, Lenglet is now focusing on preparing for the Club World Cup with his new teammates.

The Club World Cup will see Atlético Madrid kick off their campaign against Paris Saint-Germain, followed by matches against Seattle Sounders and Botafogo in Group B.
