Spanish Weather Service Denies Rare Weather Phenomenon

The AEMET states that the recent power outage in Spain and Portugal was not triggered by an uncommon atmospheric event as suggested by the Portuguese grid operator.

Uncertainty Over Cause

Initial speculations of a cyberattack were dismissed by authorities due to lack of evidence.
