Weather alerts without internet

IBM subsidiary The Weather Company will warn users of its weerapp for future natural disasters or severe weather without having an Internet connection.

The warnings come via a mesh network first available in India. Followed by 42 more countries in Africa, Central and South America and Asia. It is precisely in these countries mobile networks overloaded quickly because the demand for data is larger than the network can handle.

Thanks to the mesh technology is only need a phone with Internet and then still spread warnings. There's obviously a limit. Telephones have to remain within a reasonable distance from each other in order to be able to be part of the mesh network. For truly isolated locations, the new app is not suitable.

The new version of The Weather Channel app is available for Android.
