Power failure disrupts Atlanta airport

A power outage has caused major problems at the busiest airport in the world on Sunday.

Passengers at the airport had to wait for information in dark halls. Some were already on the plane when the power failed and the flight was canceled. Although the power outage has been rectified, delays and canceled flights must also be taken into account on Monday.

Cause of the power failure was a fire in an underground electricity system. The fire also affected the backup system. The heat and smoke in the tunnel system also made it difficult for electricians to solve the problem in time.

Atlanta Airport processes 250,000 passengers daily, some 50,000 more than Schiphol.
