Loans billion US owned Saudis known

The US Treasury Department has given the first insight into the state loans that are held by Saudi Arabia.

The major oil producer had late March $ 116.8 billion (103 billion euros) in US government bonds. The US did not previously own how much Saudi Arabia, because the country was always placed in a wide group of oil producers, of which only the joint figure was reported.

There was earlier this year, fears that Riyadh might sell US government bonds because of the sharp fall in oil prices. There were also reports that the Saudis can do for hundreds of billions of US Hand securities if Congress adopts a controversial law that could lead to processes involving the alleged Saudi joint responsibility for the attacks of September 11, 2001.
