China does torture therapy banned

Chinese teenagers with Internet addiction can not be treated in the future with electric shocks, blows or other violence.

China was last year rocked by a scandal involving a treatment center for Internet addicts, where thousands of patients were treated with electroshock therapy. A sixteen year old girl killed her mother after she was exposed in the center of the heavy-handed treatment methods.

The authorities came this week with a draft law to ban such practices, reports the state newspaper Tuesday (local time). The new legislation also includes measures against Internet addiction. As teenagers may possibly at certain times no video games via the internet.
