Trump arrived in Belgium for NATO summit

Donald Trump arrived in Belgium on Tuesday evening, attending a two-day NATO summit.

The US president is expected on Wednesday at the NATO headquarters, where CEO Jens Stoltenberg welcomes the leaders of the 29 member states around 1.15 pm. The summit ended more than a day later. Trump set the tone from the plane. He wondered on Twitter whether Member States that have spent too few years on defense will pay back the US for protection.

Last year in May, Trump was already in Brussels, then in favor of an inserted NATO summit. He once described the Belgian capital as a 'hellhole'.

Trumps next destination is the United Kingdom. He meets, among others, Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth. On the weekend he goes to his golf course in Scotland. Monday is a much-discussed meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.
