Loss of ice Antarctica has tripled since 2012

The loss of ice on Antarctica has tripled since 2012.

There is enough ice on the frozen continent to raise the sea level by 58 meters if it ever melted. Since 1992, the water level in the world's oceans has increased by 7.6 millimeters due to the loss of ice. Almost half of that increase took place in the past five years, the researchers concluded.

'According to the research, the ice loss on Antarctica means that the sea level now rises faster than at any other time in the past 25 years,' warns NASA. The research involved employees from dozens of international organizations. They published their findings in Science magazine Nature.
