Last warrior ghetto Warsaw died in Jerusalem

In Jerusalem Saturday, Holocaust survivor Simcha Rotem died, the last living warrior who had participated in the Jewish uprising in the Warsaw ghetto in World War II.

Rotem was born in Warsaw in 1924. He was 15 when the war broke out. After the German invasion of Poland, in 1939, he moved with his parents to the Jewish ghetto of the Polish capital. Here he became a member of the Jewish Combat Organization, which opposed the deportation of ghetto inhabitants by the Nazis.
