Italian Prime Minister hostage EU summit

The Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte gave the necessary counteraction and consternation Thursday at the EU summit in Brussels.

Conte wants decisions to be taken at the top that will relieve Italy. Many migrants arrive there, and the rules stipulate that the country of arrival is also the country that must deal with asylum applications. Contes Minister of the Interior, right-wing populist Matteo Salvini, has already refused access to Italian ports to some ships with migrants.

The usual press conference of EU President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Juncker after the first working session has been postponed by Friday's refusal, says Tusk's spokesperson. The discussion on migration is expected to take place well after midnight.
