Chaos at ANC conference

The election of the successor of party leader Jacob Zuma of the ANC in South Africa is delaying.

In Johannesburg thousands of members of the African National Congress are gathered this weekend, but they can not discuss or vote on Zuma's succession as the party summit is currently in session. It is not clear how long the delay will last.

Jacob Zuma (75) is, besides being party leader, also South Africa's president since 2009. His political and managerial career is characterized by a series of fraud and corruption scandals. There are seven candidates for his successor as party leader, of whom his ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and vice president Cyril Ramaphosa are the most important.
