Already 100,000 Kurds fled from Kirkuk

Already 100,000 Kurds flew from the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, says the Kurdish Regional Council (KRG).

The Iraqi army left areas in the north of the country this week, including the oily region of Kirkuk. The Kurds received the same-name city in 2014 when Iraqi troops retreated during the Islamic state's offensive.

All 18,000 families have sought their salvation these days, including Erbil, said the governor of this city.

The KRG manages the Kurdish Autonomous Region, a large area in northern Iraq. Kirkuk also falls below.
