Woman dead by scarf in wheel

tauranga - In the New Zealand coastal town of Tauranga, south-east of Auckland, a woman died in a bizarre way on Monday. She was strangled by her own scarf, which got stuck in a wheel of her scooter. The local police said that emergency workers were on the scene quickly but too late to save her. The attempts to resuscitate the victim failed.

A passing driver had called an ambulance after she had seen that there was an emergency situation. The woman had already run purple and was crooked on her means of transport. The witness thought of a stroke. Because the lady wore a thick coat with a hat, it was not obvious that she wore a tie that had been caught.

The pathologist will still investigate the cause of death.
