Spotify opens attack on YouTube

Tech January 25, 2016 16:07

- Music service Spotify begins this week with offering videos. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal. It is not directly to music videos, but for movies include the BBC, Comedy Central and ESPN.

Unfortunately for Dutch users the films will first only in the United States, Britain and Sweden to see. It will first be updated to the Android application of the service to add support for video. IPhone and iPad users will have to wait until the end of next week.

Spotify is as yet no competitor Netflix. The videos are all fairly short and 'bite-sized' and be served like the music in playlists. This company seems to launch the attack on YouTube.

It is not yet known how Spotify wants to earn money with the new offer. For now it will show no ads yet between videos by. Striking is that the movies in any case for the time being will be only to mobile view. There are no plans for video on the PC and Mac app from the company.
