Puigdemont new leader Catalan parliament

barcelona - The parliament of Catalonia has Sunday Carles Puigdemont appointed the new head of government of the Spanish region. The current mayor of Girona to lead the region in the next eighteen months to independence from Spain.

Puigdemont succeeds Artus Mas, who had after the elections in late September is not enough support. The Catalan parliament had until Sunday the time to appoint a new leader and thus avoid new elections.
