OM Chile investigates 119 abuse cases

santiago - The number of cases of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church in Chile is much greater than expected. The Public Prosecution Service announced Friday 119 cases, three times as much than a month ago.

Among the 167 persons on whom suspicions were raised are seven bishops and 96 priests. They would have resorted to 178 victims, including 79 minors, or covered the evil practices with the cloak of love. Justice gave no further details. In July there were 36 ongoing investigations and the number of church leaders involved was not mentioned.
