genoa - The Costa Concordia was dismantled by demolishers on the trunk after all. The cruise ship was on January 13, 2012 aground near the Italian island Isola del Giglio and capsized. Of the 4229 people on board, 32 were killed.

The demolition companies have 25 800 tonnes of recycled material, mainly metal. There were ninety companies involved in the demolition. The furniture and other interior of the vessel yielded 8,600 tonnes of waste. The wreckage was further 600 tonnes of food and cleaning out.

Captain Francesco Schettino has been blamed by the court and was sentenced to sixteen years in prison. He has appealed. He claims that the rocks where the boat crashed against it, were not shown on the maps. The ruling is expected these days.
