cairo - Habib al-Adly, the feared interior minister under former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Saturday convicted of embezzlement of public funds to seven years imprisonment. Two officers received the same sentence and have him pay back a total of 101 million euros, plus the same amount in fines. Eight other officials received sentences imposed from three to five years.

The judgment is appealed to the Supreme Court.

Adly two years ago was acquitted of other charges of corruption. In 2014 he was with Mubarak and six employees also acquitted of charges related to the deaths of demonstrators during the uprising of 2011.

Mubarak was last month released from prison after six years after he was acquitted of the latter charges of murder.
