dublin - Ireland expels a Russian diplomat in response to an attack with nerve gas on a Russian ex-spy in England. That is what the Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said on Tuesday. According to the British government, the regime in Moscow is behind the attack.

Governments across Europe, the United States and other countries announced Monday that they would expel more than a hundred Russian diplomats in retaliation for the attack on former Russian double-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter on 4 March. Moscow has denied being behind the attack.

'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the Russian Ambassador and informed him that the accreditation of a staff member with diplomatic status is being withdrawn,' Coveny said.
