Comet Lander does not

darmstadt - It's end of story for the scout Europe has put down on a comet. The comet lander Philae has nothing to long to hear more from him. 'The chances of Philae again contact us, unfortunately zero. We also do not send commands more', the German space agency DLR announced Friday.

Europe had last month made a desperate attempt yet to hear from the comet lander. Flight controllers sent a signal to shake Philae awake literally, but that did not work.

Philae landed on November 12, 2014 at the 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko. That was a unique achievement, but the landing was not quite right. As a result, the connection faltered. With the tree on his back flew the comet along the sun. Meanwhile, they fly away. There is too little sunlight, so the solar panels can generate enough electricity. Moreover, for the device to cool.
