Businessman Babis wins elections in the Czech Republic

prague - The controversial populist and billionaire Andrej Babis is the clear winner of the parliamentary election in the Czech Republic. After counting more than 90 percent of the votes, ANO's party came to 30.5 percent of the votes, a lead that is no longer available to competitors.

The second party appears to be the right-radical SPD of entrepreneur Tomio Okamura, with about 11 percent of the votes. The ruling Social Democrats (CSSD) experienced a debacle of 7.5 percent of the votes according to the preliminary results. (2013: 20.5 percent).

The turnout was about the same as in 2013 by about 60 percent.
