london - The English writer Louise Rennison is deceased at the age of 64, the BBC reported Monday. Her publisher HarperCollins confirmed the news of her death.

Rennison was known for her series of hugely popular books Confessions of Georgia Nicolson. The first book in the ten-part series, Tiger, thongs and tongue kissing, she received the Smarties Prize. In Georgia character was a film made in 2008 starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The film also turned in Dutch cinemas. The eighth book was published in Dutch in 2009 in the series.

Rennison wrote the series on the 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson who lives with her annoying parents in journal style. Louise based the various episodes in the books on her own childhood in Leeds.

Rennison sold in the UK 2.6 million books, according to data from Nielsen Book Data.
