Chelsea Agrees €65 Million Deal to Sign Jamie Gittens

Chelsea has finalized a deal worth up to €65 million to secure the services of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, sources confirmed to ESPN. The 20-year-old winger is poised to join Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract after successful negotiations between the two clubs.

Medical Examination and Player Ineligibility

Gittens is expected to undergo a medical examination within the next 48 hours. However, due to FIFA regulations, he will not be eligible to compete for Chelsea in the ongoing Club World Cup as he played for Dortmund in the group stage, making him cup-tied.

Previous Bids Rejected

Chelsea had faced rejections for Gittens earlier, with two bids turned down before the Club World Cup commenced. The final agreed fee of €65 million, which includes add-ons, surpasses the initial offer of €50 million that Dortmund deemed insufficient.

Strengthening Squad and Pursuing João Pedro

Following Gittens' acquisition, Chelsea aims to bolster their attacking lineup further. The club is actively seeking a deal for Brighton forward João Pedro, with competition from Newcastle for his signature.
