Arsenal has successfully concluded negotiations with Sporting CP to secure the services of striker Viktor Gyökeres for a reported fee of around €73 million ($86m). The deal marks the end of a lengthy transfer saga surrounding the Sweden international.

Medical Examination and Contract Details

Gyökeres is poised to undergo a medical examination on Saturday as part of the final formalities before joining Arsenal. The 23-year-old has notably scored an impressive 68 league goals in just 66 appearances during his time in Portugal, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess.

Transfer Deal Details

Sources close to the negotiation process revealed that Arsenal and Sporting CP had been in discussions over add-ons, leading to a slight delay in finalizing the deal. Ultimately, a compromise was reached this week, with Sporting CP accepting an initial fee of approximately €63 million, along with an additional €10 million in add-ons.

Path to Arsenal

Having already agreed on personal terms and a five-year contract with Arsenal, Gyökeres is now set to don the No. 14 shirt, previously worn by club icon Thierry Henry. The swift progression of the transfer is expected to allow Gyökeres to potentially join Arsenal's preseason tour in Asia, further integrating him into the team's setup.
