The political group trip is an initiative of the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI) and of the Association of Catalan Municipalities (AMC).

The mayors, among other things, want to speak with the parliamentarians on the prosecution of members of the Catalan government under Spanish Constitution Article 155. This allows the government to place a region under central authority.
