Weinstein put spies against women

Harvey Weinstein has hired private detectives to ward off women who said they were sexually bothered by the American film producer.

According to The New Yorker, Weinstein suspected that some women wanted to report against him and hired the detective agencies Kroll and Black Cube in the fall of 2016. Black Cube is a company run by former employees of the Israeli secret service Mossad.

By hiring the spies, Weinstein hoped to obtain information about the women who accused him of assaulting, say The New Yorker. That data would have been used to intimidate, discredit or otherwise counteract women.
