VN urges OPCW on research in Douma

The special envoy of the United Nations for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, has said on a visit to Moscow that the UN is exerting pressure on the inspectors of the OPCW to do their work in the Syrian Douma.

They arrived a week ago when the US, France and Britain carried out rocket attacks on Syria, because they hold the Syrian regime responsible for the poison attack. That would have caused the research to be delayed. On Tuesday a team of security guards from the UN was shot at Douma. That is why the researchers did not go to Douma on Wednesday.

According to the Kremlin is shot by extremists and fighters who do not want research to be done. France and the US have accused Russia and Syria of thwarting the investigation.
