US and Russia make agreements about Syria

US President Donald Trump and his Russian ambassador Vladimir Putin have agreed on a ceasefire in parts of Syria.

The ceasefire must come into effect on July 9, said Russian governor Sergei Lavrov. The Jordanian government announced via the state press agency Petra that it would support the file, which would apply to the southwest of Syria.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (Foreign Affairs) had already stated before his departure to Hamburg that the US was prepared to talk to Russia about opportunities to stabilize Syria.
